Fresh Local Food - Straight from The Farm!

What is a CSA?

The CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) method directly connects the community with the farmers who feed them.  Members purchase shares of the farmer’s harvest in advance, and receive crops as they’re harvested.  This bonds farmers to their community, and the community to their food in a system that directly benefits everyone.

Why Growanstede?

The Lane-Kreis family moved to their rented 10-acre farm in November of 2018.  We began our first year with just 10 bi-weekly deliveries, slowly grew to 18 weekly deliveries with 30 members.  Your friendly neighborhood farmers took the summer of 2023 off to officially buy the farm and work on the house.  Season 2024 is launching again slow with openings for only ten members, due to some ongoing infrastructure projects (including irrigation, hallelujah!). Continued support from our community, family, and friends through this venture is keeping us on a track of growth, both as farmers and as a business.

Thank you so much for your interest and support for a farm family in the continuation of their venture.  We’d like to extend a warm welcome back to our old members, and a “welcome home” to our new.  We look forward to being your farmers once again!

The 2024 CSA is Coming Soon!

We welcome you to join us for our our newest season–as we continue to curate this CSA journey, we are looking for people who can be flexible with us and give us good feedback on process, needs, desires/expectations, and outcome.  We are looking to be true partners with our members.

Growanstede Smallhold is located in Marshall, WI where the family purchased a lovely 10-acre plot that includes a farmhouse, small barn, 6 acres of pasture, a small forest plot, and have about an acre in produce production. Our ultimate goal is to create an enclosed regenerative ecosystem—with the farm sustaining itself using heritage, heirloom produce and livestock through organic practices.

If you have any questions or concerns, we can be reached at office@growanstede.com or via phone or text at 608-561-8442.

*please note that we are not yet certified organic.  we do use organic practices*

Your CSA Delivery

Full Season Delivery Schedule

Each full-share delivery will be about a grocery bag’s worth of food; including leafy greens, root vegetables, and 2-3 additional seasonal produce items.  Delivery takes place on Wednesdays.  Pick up can be made on farm or at a drop site on the East Side of Madison, WI.

We also provide a half-share option.  Both full-shares and half-shares are available weekly or bi-weekly.  Bi-weekly CSA members are given an “A” or a “B” designation to indicate their pickup week.

There are also two add-on shares available this year.  Egg shares and culinary herb shares are separate from the standard share, which allows members to fully customize their CSA experience.

Other Offerings

The Feastival Box

We are pleased to once again be offering a late-season box for $50.  The Fall Feastival provides nourishment for an autumnal feast or your pantry that includes pie pumpkins, squash, garlic, storage veggies, and other late-season produce.  We also offer a poultry-add-on option for this delivery (turkey, duck, chicken or any combination of the three).  You can reserve a healthy, happy, pastured bird for your Fall Feast starting at just $10.

Pastured Poultry

Also available for stand-alone pre-order is pastured poultry.  We raise heritage bred Norfolk Black Turkeys, Welsh Harlequin Ducks, and Speckled Sussex, Dorking, and Scots Dumpy Chickens, all of which are on the Livestock Conservancy’s preservation list.  Our birds are raised on pasture and supplemented with organic feed made here in Wisconsin.  We firmly believe that every animal should have only “one bad day” before they grace your table.

A deposit places a hold on your bird, and pays down the final cost.  The total cost is based on weight at delivery, less deposit received.  These birds do not have a set delivery date.  We will get in touch with you 1-2 weeks before your bird(s) will be available for pick up.  We plan on processing throughout the summer, beginning in August.  Deliveries are first-come-first served, unless you have ordered poultry with your Feastival Box or request a holiday bird.  Those birds have a delivery/pick up date in November (exact date TBD).
